July Uprising victims gather at Shahbag being denied access to CA's residence

Protesters injured during the July mass uprising have taken position at Shahbag in Dhaka, after being prevented from reaching the residence of Dr. Muhammad Yunus, the Chief Adviser of the interim government. 

On Sunday evening, around 7:30 PM, the demonstrators were stopped near the Jamuna Future Park while attempting to approach Dr. Yunus's residence and subsequently gathered in front of the Intercontinental Hotel.  

By 9:00 PM, the protesters, including injured individuals and their family members, continued their demonstration. Sohaili Tamanna, one of the protesters, told a local newspaper, "We assembled near the National Institute of Ophthalmology around 6:00 PM after leaving the Shishu Mela intersection. When we tried to proceed to the Chief Adviser's residence, police blocked us at Shahbag. We will not leave the streets until our demands are met."  

On-site reports confirmed that police barricaded the road from Banglamotor to Jamuna Future Park. Nearly a hundred injured protesters and their families were seen demonstrating, with some sitting or lying on the ground. They urged the authorities to address their demands, which include proper medical treatment, rehabilitation, and state recognition for their sacrifices during the uprising.  

Additional police forces have been deployed to manage the situation. Mohammad Masud Alam, Deputy Commissioner of Ramna Division, stated, "We are trying to convey their demands to the government. We urge them to express their grievances peacefully and avoid any disorder."  

The protesters began their demonstration on Saturday, demanding better medical care, rehabilitation, and official acknowledgment of their plight. On Sunday, they blocked the Mirpur Road near the Shishu Mela intersection throughout the day before attempting to march toward Dr. Yunus's residence in the evening.  

Upon reaching the Intercontinental Hotel area around 7:30 PM, the protesters expressed frustration upon encountering police barricades. They eventually sat down and resumed their protest, vowing to continue until their demands are addressed.  

The situation remains tense as both the demonstrators and authorities await a resolution.
