CA directs to introduce online case filing system to enhance police accessibility

During a high-level meeting at State Guest House Jamuna, Prof. Yunus emphasized the need for a modernized and efficient method for lodging complaints. 

The meeting was attended by Home Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Jahangir Alam Chowdhury, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser Khuda Baksh Chowdhury, and Home Secretary Nasimul Gani, along with senior officials from law enforcement agencies.  

Currently, citizens must visit their nearest police station in person to file a First Information Report (FIR), a process that is often time-consuming and prone to misuse. Addressing these concerns, Prof. Yunus proposed the introduction of a dedicated hotline, similar to 999, allowing people to file complaints remotely.  

�This system will significantly reduce the difficulties people face when lodging a complaint at police stations," he stated.  

The Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been instructed to launch a new helpline number at the earliest to facilitate online FIR registration. Additionally, Prof. Yunus urged law enforcement authorities to establish a dedicated call center, enabling complainants to receive updates and assistance regarding their cases.  

"Those who face difficulties in filing cases online will have access to support through this call center," he added.  

The initiative aims to enhance transparency, minimize harassment, and streamline police response while ensuring that justice is more accessible to all citizens.
