764 retired officials granted retrospective promotions

These promotions apply to various ranks, including deputy secretary, joint secretary, additional secretary, grade 1 officer (equivalent to secretary), and secretary.  

The ministry released five separate gazette notifications today to formalize these promotions.  

As per the notifications, 119 retired officials have been elevated to the rank of secretary, 41 to grade 1 officer, 528 to additional secretary, 72 to joint secretary, and four to deputy secretary.  

Prior to this decision, a review committee had assessed the applications submitted by retired officials who claimed to have been denied promotions. Based on its findings, the committee recommended their elevation in rank, leading to the issuance of the gazette.
