CA to attend ‘World Governments Summit 2025’ in UAE

Chief Adviser Professor Dr. Muhammad Yunus is set to visit the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to participate in the �World Governments Summit 2025,� which will take place in Dubai from February 11-13.  

During the summit, the Chief Adviser will present Bangladesh�s perspectives on pressing global challenges and international issues, Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Mohammad Rafiqul Alam announced at a media briefing this afternoon.  

�The Honorable Chief Adviser will also hold bilateral meetings with heads of state and government from various countries on the sidelines of the summit,� said Alam, who also serves as the Director General of the Public Diplomacy Wing.  

Additionally, Professor Yunus is expected to engage in discussions with political and business leaders attending the event.  

The invitation to the summit was formally extended by His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on January 13, 2025. The Chief Adviser has confirmed his participation in response, Alam stated.  

The World Governments Summit, founded in 2013 under the leadership of His Highness Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, serves as a premier global platform for exchanging governmental experiences and innovations. Over the years, it has brought together policymakers, thought leaders, and private sector representatives from over 140 countries to foster collaboration and shape a more sustainable future.  

�This year�s summit will continue to promote effective government partnerships while strengthening global dialogue and cooperation,� Alam noted.  

Bangladesh and the UAE have maintained historically strong ties, reinforced through economic collaboration and shared political interests. A large number of Bangladeshi expatriates reside in the UAE, playing a crucial role in Bangladesh�s economy through remittances. Meanwhile, bilateral trade continues to expand, particularly in key sectors such as textiles, agriculture, and energy.  

The Chief Adviser�s participation in the summit is expected to further enhance diplomatic and economic relations between Bangladesh and the UAE.
