Bangladeshi culture showcased at 13th folklore festival in Athens

Doel Academy, a cultural organization founded by Bangladeshi expatriates in Athens, captivated audiences with a vibrant performance at the 13th Folklore Festival 2025. 

Their showcase of traditional Bangladeshi songs and dances, performed in Bangla, highlighted the country’s rich heritage and the significance of February as the Month of Language for Bangladesh.  

The Ambassador of Bangladesh to Greece, Mrs. Nahida Rahman Shumona Iqbal, attended the event and spoke about Athens as a city of culture, drawing parallels between the deep linguistic and historical roots of Greek and Bangla languages.  

Established 25 years ago, Doel Academy plays a crucial role in preserving Bangladeshi traditions among the younger generation in Greece by teaching language, culture, and values. Their performance at the festival offered a mesmerizing journey through Bangladesh’s diverse musical and dance traditions, including classical, modern, and folk elements.  

The Greek audience warmly applauded the performance, and the festival organizers expressed their gratitude for the support of the Bangladesh Embassy. The event was further honored by the presence of the Honorable Mayor of the Municipality of Holargros.
