Gold trader shot in Banasree: Security guard held

Police have detained a security guard from Dhaka's Banasree, following a robbery incident where a gold trader, Anwar Hossain, 43, was shot and robbed of 200 tolas of gold and Tk one lakh in cash.

Rampura Police Station officer-in-charge Mohammad Ataur Rahman Akand confirmed the arrest on Monday. 

He stated that the security guard failed to open the gate when Anwar Hossain was being attacked. The guard has been brought to the police station for further interrogation to determine why he did not assist the victim during the incident.

When asked if a case had been filed, the OC mentioned that the victim's family has been advised to come to the police station to lodge a formal complaint. Once the complaint is filed, a case will be registered. 

Additionally, police are reviewing CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

The incident occurred around 10:30 PM on Sunday on road no. 7 in block D of Banasree. Three motorcycles intercepted Anwar Hossain, and the assailants snatched the gold and cash, shot him before fleeing the scene.   

Anwar, who sustained injuries, was rescued and initially taken to a local private hospital. He was later transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he remains under treatment.
