Govt committed to strengthen local governance: CA

In a message marking National Local Government Day, Dr. Yunus stated, "We are determined to further develop and strengthen local government institutions, as they are vital to delivering the benefits of the July Revolution to the people, who are our greatest asset."  

He emphasized the importance of engaging citizens in the development activities of the new Bangladesh, achieved through the sacrifices of the July uprising martyrs. "People must be more involved in the nation's development efforts to reflect the spirit of the July Revolution," he added.  

Dr. Yunus extended his heartfelt greetings to members of the local government division, local government institutions, and the people of Bangladesh. He expressed hope that observing the day would open new avenues for people-friendly services and inspire greater dedication to building a prosperous nation.  

Highlighting the role of youth, the Chief Adviser noted that young people form a significant portion of local government stakeholders. "By incorporating their hopes and aspirations into the multifaceted development and service-oriented activities of local government institutions, we can build an enlightened nation," he said.  

Dr. Yunus reiterated the interim government's commitment to creating a discrimination-free and corruption-free Bangladesh, as envisioned by the people during the July uprising. "The role of local government institutions in fulfilling this vision is immense," he said, expressing hope that the observance of National Local Government Day would inspire renewed determination to build a better future.  

The Chief Adviser concluded by wishing success for all programs held on the occasion.
