July uprising victims block CA office gate, halt traffic despite military presence

Protesters have staged a sit-in by lying down in front of the Chief Advisor’s office, demanding a monthly allowance for the martyrs and injured of the July Uprising, along with two other demands. 

As a result, entry and exit through gate no. 1 of the office have been completely blocked.  

On Wednesday, before 5:15 PM, the demonstrators began their protest by spreading mattresses and lying down in front of the office. This blockade not only restricted movement through the gate but also disrupted traffic on the adjacent main road.  

At around 5:40 PM, in response to the situation, five military jeeps arrived at the scene, and army personnel took position near the gate.  

Arman Hossain, a coordinator representing the families of the martyrs and the injured, stated that they are the frontline fighters of the movement, and the interim government stands on the sacrifices of their blood. 

He expressed frustration that despite their prolonged protest, no resolution had been reached. He demanded that the government officially accept their demands as soon as possible. If their demands remain unmet, they vowed to escalate the protest by blocking roads. He emphasized that they seek a structured and peaceful resolution from the government.  

He further stated that the protesters are demanding an end to the discriminatory categorization of the injured. Currently, there are three categories, which they want to be reduced to two. The protest will continue until their demands are fulfilled.  

Earlier, Lieutenant General (Retd.) Abdul Hafiz, the Special Assistant to the Chief Advisor, met with the injured protesters and assured them that their demands would be conveyed to the relevant authorities. 

However, the demonstrators rejected this assurance and declared their intention to continue their protest until a formal resolution is announced.
