Chhayanaut welcomes spring 2025 with a vibrant cultural extravaganza

The Faculty of Fine Art (Charukola) at Dhaka University transformed into a colorful haven on Friday morning as Chhayanaut hosted its annual Spring Festival, celebrating the arrival of the "King of Seasons." 

Under the shade of blooming Bakul trees, cultural enthusiasts gathered to revel in the beauty of Spring through music, dance, and poetry.  

As the southern breeze swept through the campus, the rustling leaves and vibrant blossoms of Palash, Shimul, and Krishnachura trees set the stage for a day of artistic splendor. The festival, steeped in tradition, showcased a diverse array of performances, paying homage to the lyrical and poetic works of Rabindranath Tagore, Kazi Nazrul Islam, Dwijendralal Roy, and Atul Prasad Sen.  

The event began with a group performance of the timeless classic "Ore Grihobashi, Khol Dwar Khol," a call to embrace the festive spirit of Spring. Dancers moved in harmony with the melody, adding a visual feast to the musical enchantment.  

Solo performances took center stage, with Iffat Binte Nazir captivating the audience with "Boshonte Aaj Dhorar Chitto Holo Utola," Srabanti Dhar rendering Dwijendralal Roy’s "Aye Re Boshonto Tor Kiron Makha Pakha Tule," and Somudro Shubhom performing "Piu Piu Birohi Papia Bole."  

The musical journey continued with a group rendition of "Amra Maloy Batashe Bhese Jabo," followed by Sejuti Barua’s "Amar Mallika Bone Jokhon Prothom Dhoreche Koli" and Nasima Shaheen Fancy’s "Futlo Jedin Fagune Hai, Prothom Golap Kuri."  

Renowned elocutionist Bhaskar Bandyopadhyay interspersed the musical performances with evocative poetry recitations, setting a poetic tone. ATM Jahangir’s rendition of "Madhur Boshonto Esechhe Madhur Milon Ghotate" further enriched the program.  

A synchronized dance and choral performance to "Fagun Haway Haway Korechi Je Daan" enchanted the audience, while Sanjay Kabiraj mesmerized with "Boshonto Fulbone Saje Bonobhumi Sundori Chorone." Sutapa Saha’s "Neel Akasher Kone Oi Bujhi Aaj Shihoron Lage" and another group rendition of "Dola Lagilo Dokhinar Bone Bone" added to the festive atmosphere.  

Partho Pratim Roy delivered "Aha, Aji E Boshonte Eto Phul Phote," and Aishwarya Samaddar evoked emotion with Kazi Nazrul Islam’s "Chaitali Chandni Raate." Avoya Dutta’s "Jodi Tare Nai Chini Go" and the group song "Aji Boshonto Jagroto Dware Dware" kept the audience enthralled.  

Jannat-e-Ferdous Lucky sang "Phul Faguner Elo Morshum," while Dalia Ahmed recited Kazi Nazrul’s poem "Boshonti." Rezaul Karim performed "Aslo Jokhon Fuler Fagun," and Sushmita Debnath Shuchi concluded the musical segment with "Jabo Na Jabo Na Ghore." The final group dance sequence, set to "Rangiye Diye Jao Jao Go Ebar Jabar Age," brought the festival to a vibrant close.  

The event concluded with the national anthem, leaving the audience immersed in the bliss of Spring and the reverence of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage. Chhayanaut’s annual Spring Festival once again proved to be a timeless celebration of nature’s most poetic season and the enduring allure of art and culture.
