Home Adviser orders removal of OC within 24hr in Cox's Bazar

Home Ministry Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury has issued a verbal directive for the removal of Chakaria Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Md. Manjur Kader Bhuiyan within 24 hours. 

The instruction was given during a meeting with officials from the Home and Agriculture Ministries at the Cox’s Bazar Deputy Commissioner’s conference room on Saturday.  

During the meeting, local journalists drew the adviser's attention to allegations against the OC, including cases of violence against women and children, as well as a murder case. They also accused the police officer of abducting another journalist and falsely implicating him in a fabricated case. 

He further highlighted public protests demanding the officer’s removal, including human chains and symbolic broom processions organized by local residents.  

Upon hearing these allegations, Home Ministry Adviser Lieutenant General (Retd.) Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury immediately contacted Chattogram Range Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Md. Ahsan Habib Palash and instructed him to withdraw the officer within 24 hours.  

The meeting was attended by officials from the Armed Forces, Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), police, prisons department, Ansar, immigration and passport services, fire service and civil defense, the Department of Narcotics Control, and various agencies under the Ministry of Agriculture in Cox’s Bazar district.
