5% quota for children of uprising victims in school admissions

The government has decided to allocate a 5% quota for the children of those injured or killed during the July 2024 mass uprising, in addition to the existing quota for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters, in government secondary school admissions.

Previously, the 5% quota was reserved exclusively for the children of freedom fighters and martyred freedom fighters. Now, this quota will also include the children of families affected by the July 2024 uprising.

In a recent office order, the Ministry of Education stated that 5% of seats in government secondary schools will be reserved for the children of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, and the families of those injured or killed during the July 2024 uprising. 

Applicants must submit verified copies of relevant certificates or gazettes along with their applications and present the original documents during admission. The certificates issued by the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs for freedom fighters or the gazettes for the martyrs of the July 2024 uprising must be thoroughly verified during the admission process.

However, if no eligible candidates from the families of freedom fighters, martyred freedom fighters, or the July 2024 uprising victims are found, the reserved seats will be filled based on the merit list. Under no circumstances should the seats remain vacant.

The Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education has been instructed to ensure the proper implementation of this directive.
