Saudi Arabia's Aramco to supply LNG to Bangladesh at reduced prices: Rizwana

Environment, Forests, and Climate Change Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan on Tuesday stated that Saudi Arabia’s Aramco has agreed to supply liquefied natural gas (LNG) to Bangladesh at lower prices, offering a significant boost to the country’s energy sector.

"Currently, Bangladesh imports LNG from two countries. Aramco has now agreed to provide it at more affordable rates," Rizwana said at a press briefing held at the Foreign Service Academy in the afternoon.  

The press briefing was attended by Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam, Deputy Press Secretaries Apurba Jahangir and Abul Kalam Azad Majumder, and Assistant Press Secretary Suchismita Tithi.

Addressing concerns about law and order, the adviser further emphasized that mob justice and moral policing have no place in Bangladesh. She reaffirmed the interim government’s commitment to maintaining order and preventing such incidents.  

“Our stance is very clear—there is no room for mob justice or moral policing in this country,” Rizwana said, adding that the government remains firm in its stance against violence toward women.  

The adviser also announced that children from around 1,200 families affected by the July Uprising will be given one-time admission facilities in schools. However, she clarified that this measure is not related to any quota system.
