Interim govt influenced by a ‘Kitchen Cabinet’: Rizvi

According to him, although Dr. Yunus holds the status equivalent to the Prime Minister, certain advisors are obstructing him from making key development-related decisions.  

Rizvi made these remarks on Wednesday, while participating in a sit-in protest in front of the National Press Club. The demonstration was organized by the Non-MPO Educational Institutions Unity Council, demanding the inclusion of all non-MPO educational institutions under the MPO (Monthly Pay Order) scheme.  

He criticized the government's inaction towards teachers, saying that those who enlighten society are being forced to beg at the Secretariat. Meanwhile, business syndicates manipulating market prices remain untouched, indicating the government's indifference to real issues. He accused the interim administration of ignoring the hunger-driven demands of non-MPO teachers, despite their significant contributions to society.  

Referring to past victims of political violence, Rizvi stated, "This government is built on the blood of Abu Sayeed and Mugdha." He lamented that while teachers are fighting for survival, the government remains unmoved by their plight. He argued that such negligence proves the presence of anti-people elements within the administration.  

He further questioned the government's treatment of veteran educators, stating, "Many of these teachers have been shaping students' futures for over 27 years. Are they not citizens of this country? Why is the government turning its back on them?"  

Rizvi also criticized the recent changes in the education advisory position, revealing that Dr. Aminul Islam, a renowned academic, was initially announced as an education advisor, only to be replaced later the same day. He demanded to know why a distinguished and respected educator like Dr. Islam was treated in such a manner.  

He urged Dr. Yunus to uphold his reputation as a pro-education leader, questioning, "How can you find joy in watching teachers and their families starve? Why are you being prevented from addressing their needs?"
