The Virtue of Ramadan: Day 7

The Persian word "Roza" translates to "Sawm" in Arabic, which means "abstaining". In Islamic teachings, Sawm refers to refraining from eating, drinking, and marital relations from dawn (Subh-e-Sadiq) until sunset, with the intention of obeying Allah's command.  

Fasting was made obligatory in the 2nd year of Hijri during the month of Sha’ban in Madinah. Allah says in the Qur’an:  

"O you who have believed, fasting has been prescribed upon you as it was prescribed upon those before you, so that you may attain Taqwa (piety and self-restraint)." (Surah Al-Baqarah, Ayah 183)  

There are 30 unique virtues for the 30 fasts of Ramadan. Today, we will discuss the virtue of the 7th fast.  

The Virtue of the 7th Fast:  

According to Hadith, the one who fasts on the 7th day of Ramadan will receive a reward equal to that of supporting Prophet Musa (AS) against Pharaoh.  

Dua for the 7th Fast: 

اللّـهُمَّ اَعِنّی فِیهِ عَلى صِیامِهِ وَقِیامِهِ، وَجَنِّبْنی فیهِ مِنْ هَفَواتِهِ وَآثامِهِ، وَارْزُقْنی فیهِ ذِکْرَکَ بِدَوامِهِ، بِتَوْفیقِکَ یا هادِیَ الْمُضِلّینَ.  

Meaning:  

"O Allah! Assist me in observing the fast and standing in prayer. Keep me away from mistakes and sins. Bless me with continuous remembrance of You, by Your divine guidance, O the One who guides those who are lost!"  
Additional Virtues of Ramadan  

Abu Huraira (RA) narrated that the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: "When the first night of Ramadan arrives, the devils and rebellious jinn are chained, the gates of Hell are closed, and none of its doors are opened. The gates of Paradise are opened, and none of its doors are closed." (Hadith - Bukhari & Muslim)  

According to Abdullah ibn Umar (RA), the Prophet (SAW) said: "For the whole year, Jannah is prepared for Ramadan. When the first day of Ramadan arrives, a breeze flows from beneath the Arsh (Throne of Allah) towards the Hoors (heavenly maidens). They call out, 'O our Lord! Assign us spouses from among Your servants who will be a delight to our eyes, and we will be a delight to theirs.’" (Hadith - Tirmidhi)  

Ramadan is not just a month of fasting but a time for spiritual growth, mercy, and forgiveness. The 7th fast carries great rewards, and believers are encouraged to pray, seek forgiveness, and engage in righteous deeds during this holy month.
