Chinese firm to invest $12.25mn in Mongla EPZ

The factory will produce reflective jackets, vests, t-shirts, fleece jackets, coveralls, and safety helmets, creating employment for 1,616 Bangladeshi workers.  

The Bangladesh Export Processing Zones Authority (BEPZA) signed an agreement with the company on Monday (March 17) at the BEPZA Complex in Dhaka.  

BEPZA Executive Chairman Major General Abul Kalam Mohammad Ziaur Rahman, BSP, ndc, psc, was present at the signing ceremony, where Md Imtiaz Hossain, BEPZA’s Member (Engineering & Investment Promotion – Additional Charge), and Shi Yan, Managing Director of Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd, signed the agreement.  

Major General Ziaur Rahman welcomed the investment, emphasizing BEPZA's commitment to providing a secure and supportive environment for foreign investors. He also urged the company to prioritize environmental sustainability in its operations.  

The signing ceremony was attended by BEPZA Member (Finance) A N M Foyzul Haque, Executive Director (Investment Promotion) Md Tanvir Hossain, Executive Director (Admin) Md Tazim-Ur-Rahman, and representatives from Safety Garments Bangladesh Co Ltd.  

This investment highlights Bangladesh’s growing appeal as a hub for international manufacturing and trade.
