Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md. Zakir Hossain Galib on Monday granted permission for Orion Group Chairman Obaidul Karim and his wife, Arjuda Karim, to travel abroad for medical treatment and Umrah.

A month ago, a travel ban was imposed on them due to corruption allegations.

Earlier, on February 17, the court, upon an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) request, restricted Karim and his family from leaving the country amid an ongoing money laundering investigation. The ACC cited preliminary evidence suggesting the allegations had merit and expressed concerns about their potential attempt to flee.

Following a hearing, the court approved Obaidul Karim and his wife's travel request but did not grant permission for their daughter, Jereen Karim.
