Bangladesh condemns Israeli attacks, human rights violations in Gaza

The Government of Bangladesh has issued a firm and unequivocal condemnation of the ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, denouncing what it described as a “mass killing spree” and “gross violations of human rights” perpetrated by Israeli occupying forces.

In a statement released Monday by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Bangladesh decried the indiscriminate aerial bombardment of densely populated civilian areas in Gaza, particularly following the recent breach of ceasefire agreements. The attacks, which have reportedly killed large numbers of civilians — including women and children — and obstructed vital humanitarian aid, have contributed to what Bangladesh called a growing "human catastrophe."

“Evidently, Israel has shown no regard to repeated international appeals and has instead engaged in an increasingly intense killing spree,” the Ministry stated, accusing Israel of carrying out acts amounting to ethnic cleansing against the Palestinian people.

Bangladesh demanded an immediate cessation of Israeli military operations and called on Israel to abide by its obligations under international humanitarian law. It urged the international community, especially the United Nations, to take swift and effective action to implement an unconditional ceasefire and ensure the delivery of humanitarian relief to the besieged population of Gaza.

The Foreign Ministry reaffirmed Bangladesh’s unwavering support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including their right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with East Jerusalem as its capital.

Calling for a return to diplomatic negotiations, the statement emphasized that a permanent peace in the Middle East is essential for both regional and global stability. Bangladesh appealed to all parties to pursue the path of diplomacy and dialogue to end the violence and alleviate the long-standing suffering of the Palestinian people.

Reiterating its commitment to a two-state solution, Bangladesh underscored the need for a resolution that is grounded in international law, relevant UN resolutions, and the Palestinian people's aspirations for peace, dignity, and justice.
