The Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) has temporarily suspended its Joint Member Secretary, Gazi Salauddin Tanvir, following serious corruption allegations.
Tanvir is accused of unlawfully interfering in District Commissioner appointments and being involved in commission-based corruption related to textbook printing paper procurement through the National Curriculum and Textbook Board (NCTB).
On Monday, the NCP issued a show-cause notice demanding a written explanation from Tanvir within seven days. The suspension order—signed by Joint Member Secretary Salah Uddin Sifat—also cited Tanvir’s "disregard for previously issued verbal warnings" as a contributing factor.
NCP Convener Nahid Islam and Member Secretary Akhter Hossen jointly authorised both the suspension and the show-cause notice. The notice further states that Tanvir must justify why he should not be permanently expelled from the party.
“Until the final report of the Disciplinary Committee is published, Tanvir is relieved of all responsibilities and activities of the party,” read the official statement.
The allegations first surfaced in a national daily last month, prompting the NCP—one of the country’s emerging political platforms—to initiate swift internal disciplinary action.
