A Dhaka court has imposed a travel ban on former Chief of Bangladesh Air Force, Air Chief Marshal Sheikh Abdul Hannan, and his family members over corruption allegations.

The order was issued on Monday by Dhaka Metropolitan Senior Special Judge Md Zakir Hossain Galib, following a petition filed by the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC).

ACC spokesperson Akhtarul Islam confirmed the court directive, stating that the petition was submitted by the commission’s Deputy Director Tanzir Hasib Sarkar.

The petition cited serious allegations, including abuse of power, embezzlement of state funds, bribery, irregularities in recruitment, illegal wealth accumulation, and laundering of money abroad.

According to ACC sources, Sheikh Abdul Hannan and his family were reportedly planning to leave the country, prompting the need for immediate action to ensure an unhindered investigation.

The court-approved travel restrictions are intended to facilitate a proper and uninterrupted probe into the allegations. A dedicated ACC team has been formed to carry out the inquiry.
