The Ministry of Home Affairs has issued a reshuffle order involving six senior officials of the Bangladesh Police, affecting officers at the ranks of Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and Assistant Inspector General (AIG).
The reshuffle, announced on Wednesday, includes changes across various branches of the police force.
Rezaul Karim Mollick, who previously served as the head of the Detective Branch (DB) under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), has been removed from his position. His transfer comes in the wake of the recent arrest of model Meghna Alam, though no official reason has been cited.
As per the notification:
* Dhaka Range DIG AKM Awlad Hossain has been appointed AIG of Police Telecommunications.
* Md Sibgat Ullah, previously AIG of the Industrial Police, has been transferred to the AIG post at the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
* Gazi Jashim Uddin, DIG of CID, has been made AIG of Industrial Police.
* Towfiq Mahbub Chowdhury, AIG at Police Headquarters, has been appointed principal of the Bangladesh Police Academy.
* Rezaul Karim Mollick, former AIG at DMP, will now serve as Dhaka Range DIG.
* DIG Shoaib Riaz Alam, formerly posted at Police Headquarters, has been made DIG of the Special Protection Battalion (SPBn).
The transfer order takes effect immediately.
