Jatiya Nagorik Party's chief organizer for southern region, Hasnat Abdullah, has termed the arrest of actress Nusrat Fariha as a "Hasina-style diversion tactic," accusing the governement of using her detention to distract public from unresolved political crimes and failures of justice.

In a Facebook post from his verified account on Monday, Hasnat wrote, “This is not justice. This is Hasina-style diversion.”

Referring to recent political controversies, he said, “Those directly involved in murder are being allowed to flee the country safely. Even Shirin Sharmin was issued a passport under state supervision at home. The second tribunal, which was due to start in January, hasn’t even begun in May.”

Hasnat also questioned: “Where is the list of 626 individuals? They were allowed to leave safely. And now you're arresting Nusrat Fariha in a murder case to make it look like justice is being served? These are diversion tactics, not justice.”

Actress Nusrat Fariha was arrested at Dhaka airport on Sunday. She was later shown arrested in a case related to the attempted murder of Enamul Haque, an activist involved in the Anti-Discrimination Student Movement, under Bhatara Police Station.

Hasnat’s post quickly gained traction on social media, with supporters echoing concerns that high-profile arrests like Fariha’s are being used to shift attention away from unresolved cases and systemic political failings.

The government has yet to respond to Hasnat Abdullah's statement.
