Tanim Noor’s film Utshob has firmly established itself among the top Eid-ul-Azha releases. Since its premiere, audience turnout has steadily increased, particularly from the second day onward, leading to impressive box office earnings.
On the 10th day after its release, the film earned Tk 14.07 lakh, bringing its total revenue from multiplexes to over Tk 1.14 crore within just ten days.
Notably, Utshob entered the coveted “crore club” in only nine days.
Producer Tanim Noor stated, “The budget for the film was around Tk 2 crore. After including promotional expenses, the total investment exceeded 2 crore. If audiences continue to visit theaters, I’m optimistic we will see a profitable return.”
It’s worth noting that these earnings reflect only the cinema hall collections.
With an international release on the horizon, the film is also expected to achieve commercial success through OTT platforms, television rights, and music rights.
Director Tanim Noor expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming audience response, “I’m not someone who enjoys publicity, so I couldn’t do much promotion. However, the audience is actively promoting the film themselves, which is incredibly heartening. I’m receiving excellent feedback from theaters. The way people have embraced Utsav is truly a blessing, and I’m very happy.”
Following its domestic success, Utshob is set for an international release. The film will premiere in 37 theaters across Canada, the United States and the UK on June 20, followed by its release in Australia on June 21.
Utshob is an adaptation of Charles Dickens’ classic novel A Christmas Carol and is produced by Dope Productions and Laughing Elephant.
The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Zahid Hasan, Jaya Ahsan, Afsana Mimi, Api Karim, Tariq Anam Khan, Chanchal Chowdhury, Intekhab Dinar, Sadia Ayman and Soumya Jyoti, among others.
