2 more die of dengue in 24-hour

Dengue continues to claim lives in Bangladesh, with two more deaths and 159 new hospitalizations reported in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

The two deceased were both men, aged 72 and 50, respectively, the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room of the DGHS said in a statement released Friday.

Barishal saw the highest number of new admissions, with 107 patients hospitalized. Dhaka city hospitals admitted 21 patients, while 12 were hospitalized in the broader Dhaka division (excluding city limits). Other divisions reported as follows: Chattogram – 11, Rajshahi – 6, and Sylhet – 2.

This brings the total number of dengue deaths in 2025 to 40, comprising 22 men and 18 women. So far, 9,222 people have been infected nationwide this year.
