Record high 429 dengue patients hospitalised in 24hrs

Bangladesh reported 429 new dengue hospitalizations in the 24 hours from Sunday to Monday morning, marking the highest single-day count of the year so far. 

Of these, the highest concentration—149 patients—was in the Barishal division. However, no new deaths were reported during this period.

The data was released Monday (June 30) by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) through its Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room.

According to the update, new hospital admissions by region include: 149 in Barishal, 57 in Chattogram, 61 in Dhaka Division (outside city corporations), 42 in Dhaka North City, 45 in Dhaka South City, 21 in Khulna, and 54 in Rajshahi.

Meanwhile, 358 patients across the country were discharged in the past day, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 9,087.

Since January, Bangladesh has seen 10,296 dengue-related hospital admissions. The virus has claimed 42 lives so far this year. Health authorities continue to urge residents to take preventive measures to control the spread of the mosquito-borne disease.
