DSCC approves Tk 3,841cr budget for FY 2025-26

The Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) has approved a budget of Tk 3841.38cr for the 2025-26 fiscal year, focusing on urban management, citizen services, and key infrastructure projects.

The budget was endorsed at the seventh corporation meeting of the DSCC governing committee on Monday, held at Nagar Bhaban under the chairmanship of DSCC Administrator Md Shahjahan Mia. The session was attended by 25 committee members, including representatives from various government departments.

At the outset, the meeting reviewed the minutes and implementation progress of the sixth corporation meeting held on May 5. Chief Accounts Officer Ali Monsur then presented the proposed budget, which was subsequently discussed and unanimously approved by the committee members.

Thanking the committee for their engagement and approval, the DSCC administrator emphasized that the budget is more than just numbers. “This is a trust placed in us by our valued taxpayers. The effective formulation and implementation of this budget will determine how well we manage our beloved city and address its daily challenges,” he said.

The meeting also decided to continue providing primary healthcare and maternity services under the now-expired Urban Primary Health Care Services Delivery Project (Phase 2) through new agreements with existing NGOs operating in the DSCC area since 1998.

In addition, the daily wage for temporary laborers employed by DSCC has been revised from 600 to 800 taka, following a circular from the Finance Division. The committee also gave in-principle approval to transform a temporary mosque in Ministerpara into a three-story aesthetically designed permanent structure.

The meeting was attended by DSCC Chief Executive Officer Dr Zillur Rahman, Secretary Muhammad Shafiqul Islam, and officials from all departments.
