One more dies of dengue; 416 hospitalised

Dengue has claimed another life in Bangladesh in the 24 hours till Wednesday morning, raising this year’s death toll to 44, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

During the same period, 416 more patients were hospitalised with the mosquito-borne disease, bringing the total number of dengue cases this year to 11,098.

Last year, dengue killed 575 people, while 2023 marked the deadliest year on record with 1,705 fatalities and 321,179 cases, according to DGHS data.
