Just days after wrapping up their Sri Lanka tour, the Bangladesh cricket team has returned to action—this time hosting Pakistan for a T20I series on home soil. Despite the short turnaround, the Tigers have made a strong start in the series opener.

In the first T20I, Bangladesh skipper Liton Das finally found luck with the toss after nine matches, opting to field first at home.

By the end of the powerplay, Pakistan were reeling at 41 for 4 after six overs.

Bangladesh got off to a promising start with the ball. Off-spinner Sheikh Mehedi opened the bowling, continuing his fine form from the recently concluded Sri Lanka series. He could have struck in the very first over, but Taskin Ahmed dropped a simple catch at mid-on, giving Fakhar Zaman a lifeline on 4.

Taskin, however, quickly made amends. Bowling the second over, he removed Saim Ayub for 6 off 4 balls.

In the very next over, Mehedi struck as well, dismissing Mohammad Haris for 4. Haris attempted a lofted shot but was caught at cow corner by Shamim Hossain.

Pacer Tanzim Sakib was introduced in the fifth over and made an immediate impact. He outfoxed Salman Ali Agha, who misjudged a ramp shot and edged it behind to Liton Das.

Mustafizur Rahman joined the wicket-taking party in the sixth over. Trying to go big, Hasan Nawaz top-edged a delivery that was comfortably taken by Rishad Hossain at third man. Nawaz was dismissed for a duck.

At the end of six overs, Pakistan found themselves in deep trouble, having lost four wickets for just 41 runs.
