Chief Adviser (CA) Professor Muhammad Yunus on Sunday expressed deep appreciation to the international medical teams from Singapore, China, and India for their rapid deployment and life-saving work in the aftermath of the recent military jet crash near Milestone School and College in Dhaka.

The delegation, comprising 21 doctors and nurses, met with the Chief Adviser at the State Guest House Jamuna, where he thanked them for their swift response and unwavering support during one of the country's most devastating emergencies in recent memory.

“These teams have come not just with their skills, but with their hearts,” Professor Yunus said. “Their presence reaffirms our shared humanity and the value of global partnerships in times of tragedy.”

The international medical professionals have been working round-the-clock with Bangladeshi doctors to provide trauma care and critical treatment to dozens of injured patients, many of them children.

Professor Yunus highlighted the role of international cooperation in strengthening Bangladesh’s emergency medical response capabilities. He acknowledged the fast-track diplomatic coordination that allowed the foreign medical teams to arrive without delay.

“The solidarity shown here today will be remembered. It underscores the importance of building long-term partnerships in healthcare, disaster response, and innovation,” he said.

He encouraged the visiting physicians to maintain ongoing ties with Bangladesh through virtual collaboration, knowledge sharing, and institutional exchanges in medical education and public health.

Health Adviser Nurjahan Begum expressed gratitude on behalf of the Interim Government, stating that Bangladesh is deeply touched by the gesture of support from its regional neighbors.

Professor Sayedur Rahman, Special Assistant to the Chief Adviser for the Ministry of Health, noted that several lives were saved thanks to the immediate action of the visiting doctors.

Professor Md. Nasir Uddin, Director of the National Institute of Burn & Plastic Surgery (NIBPS), remarked: “This tragedy has once again proven that doctors truly know no borders.”

The visiting delegation included 10 medical professionals from Singapore, eight from China, and three from India. Diplomats including Chinese Ambassador Yao Wen and the Singapore Head of Mission in Dhaka were also present at the meeting.

The plane crash, which took place earlier this month during a military training exercise, resulted in multiple fatalities and injuries, triggering a national outpouring of grief and a robust emergency response.
