Sarwar Alam appointed new DC of Sylhet

Md. Sarwar Alam, widely known for his bold mobile court drives against corruption and adulteration, has been appointed as new Deputy Commissioner (DC) and District Magistrate of Sylhet.

The Ministry of Public Administration issued a gazette notification on Monday (18 August), transferring and posting the BCS (Administration) cadre officer to his new role. 

The order, issued from the ministry’s Field Administration-2 branch, states that the decision takes immediate effect in the public interest.

Before this appointment, Sarwar Alam was serving as Senior Assistant Secretary at the Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. He rose to public prominence through his decisive role as an executive magistrate, leading anti-corruption and anti-adulteration drives that drew nationwide attention.

He joined the administration through the 27th BCS in 2008.
