Floodwaters in the Sutlej River in Pakistan’s Punjab province have exceeded danger levels, prompting the evacuation of at least 19,000 people from their homes on Saturday.

The situation is especially dire in the Gonda Singhwala area, where authorities warn that the flood conditions will likely remain unchanged for the next 48 hours.

With heavy rainfall forecasted from Sunday to Wednesday, the situation is expected to worsen. In response, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) has launched emergency operations and began evacuations in several flood-affected districts.

Rescue 1122 spokesperson Farooq Ahmed confirmed that over 19,000 residents have already been relocated from various flood-prone areas across the province.
