The government has carried out a major reshuffle in the police force, transferring 52 senior officers, including 18 Additional Inspectors General (Addl. IGPs), 12 Deputy Inspectors General (DIGs), 6 Additional DIGs, and 16 Superintendents of Police (SPs).
The Ministry of Home Affairs issued four separate circulars on Monday through its Public Security Division confirming the large-scale reassignments.
18 Additional IGPs reassignedAmong the changes, AKM Awlad Hossain has been made Additional IGP (Administration) at Police Headquarters, while Md Golam Rasul has been confirmed as head of the Special Branch (SB). Md Akram Hossain has been given regular charge as Additional IGP at PHQ, and CMP Commissioner Hasib Aziz was promoted to Additional IGP but retained in Chattogram Metropolitan Police.
Other notable postings include:
Md Rezaul Karim, Commissioner of Sylhet Metropolitan Police, to the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU).
Gazi Jasim Uddin confirmed as Additional IGP of Industrial Police.
Abu Naser Khaled, Khondker Rafiqul Islam, Mosleh Uddin Ahmed, Mustafa Kamal (PBI), Shibgat Ullah (CID), and Ali Hossain Fakir (APBn) confirmed in their existing posts.
GM Azizur Rahman (SB), Md Sarwar (DMP), Md Fazlul Karim (PHQ), Md Rozaul Karim (Police Telecom), and Md Ahsan Habib Palash (Chattogram Range) assigned as Additional IGPs in their respective units.

Sources said many of the officers had long been serving in acting positions, while some promotions had not been followed with new appointments. A few officials were also reassigned following allegations of corruption or negative reports submitted against them.
