Bangladesh captain Liton Das has set a bold batting target for his team ahead of the upcoming three-match T20 series against the Netherlands, aiming to score between 200 and 250 runs in each innings.

Speaking at a press conference in Sylhet ahead of the first T20, scheduled to begin on August 30, Liton expressed confidence in the home conditions and highlighted the importance of using the series as a dress rehearsal for the upcoming Asia Cup in Abu Dhabi.

“The pitch here in Sylhet is excellent — balanced for both batters and bowlers, quite similar to what we’re likely to encounter in Abu Dhabi,” Liton said. “Our goal is to put up totals of 200 to 250 runs. Even if we don’t always reach that mark, striving for consistency in our approach is crucial.”

While expressing confidence, Liton urged the team not to underestimate the Netherlands, acknowledging their competitive edge on favorable pitches. “The Dutch side has experience and knows how to capitalize on good batting conditions. They will be a tough opponent. We’re also using this series to assess new players, but make no mistake — winning remains our top priority.”

Ahead of the Sylhet camp, the Bangladesh squad underwent an intensive fitness and skills training program in Dhaka, including specialized power-hitting sessions led by assistant coach Julian Wood. Liton emphasized the importance of physical conditioning and the gradual adoption of modern techniques.

“Fitness is non-negotiable in today’s game,” he said. “The power-hitting drills introduced fresh strategies, but adapting to new methods takes time and patience. We’re on the right track.”

On the injury to opener Parvez Hossain Emon during a recent warm-up match, Liton said he had not yet received an official update from the team management.

Bangladesh will face the Netherlands in the first T20 at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on August 30, with the series serving as a key preparatory step before the Asia Cup.
