The thirteenth edition of Bangladesh Travel and Tourism Fair, one of the country’s largest tourism fairs, will be held from October 30 at Bangladesh-China Friendship Conference Centre in the capital.

The three-day fair will be organised by the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh, a leading tourism trade organisation of the country.

In this regard, the TOAB organised a pre-fair press conference in the capital on Monday.
Sayema Shaheen Sultana, chairperson of Bangladesh Tourism Corporation, highlighted the importance of BTTF in developing Bangladesh’s tourism sector during her speech.

She assured the government’s full support for making the event a success, said a press release.

Md Rafeuzjaman, president of TOAB, emphasised that BTTF is Bangladesh’s largest and most popular tourism fair, aimed at raising awareness and promoting sustainable development in tourism.

He hoped that this year’s fair will generate excitement and enthusiasm among local and international stakeholders, thereby contributing to the growth of the tourism industry and playing a vital role in Bangladesh’s economy.

TOAB and partner organisations signed several MOUs focusing on sustainable tourism, medical tourism, digital promotion and regional cooperation.

According to the organisers, this year’s fair will receive support from several key government and private organisations.

The fair would host over 250 exhibitors from more than 20 countries with over 2,000 commercial representatives, while more than 50,000 visitors are expected to attend.

The press release said other activities during the fair would include B2B sessions, seminars and roundtable discussions.

The focus of this year’s event would be to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly tourism.

Organisers said they would try to showcase how tourism can be developed without harming the environment.

The fair would be plastic-free and tree-planting initiatives and sustainable tourism campaigns would be held at tourist spots across the eight divisions of Bangladesh.
Local artisans from different districts will showcase their products and demonstrate their craft.

Moreover, several initiatives have been taken to create enthusiasm and engage people in the field, like travel photos, videos, and story competitions.

Md Taslim Amin Shobhon, director (trade and fair), TOAB, provided an overview of the fair and its preparations.
