The Team Phoenix Group has secured a prestigious grant from the APNIC Foundation's ISIF Asia Programme to launch SecureNet BD, a pioneering initiative aimed at transforming Bangladesh's cybersecurity landscape.
The programme marks a major milestone in advancing the nation's digital resilience through the establishment of the country's first-ever Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CCoE) and a Community-driven Security Operations Center (SOC) / Computer Security Incident Response Team (CSIRT), says a press release.
As Bangladesh continues its rapid digital transformation, the frequency and complexity of cyber threats are increasing at an unprecedented rate-leaving many institutions, nonprofits, and communities, especially those outside major cities, without access to affordable training or reliable security infrastructure. SecureNet BD seeks to bridge this critical gap by fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and community-powered approach to cybersecurity.
Through this initiative, The Team Phoenix Group will train over 1,000 individuals nationwide, ensuring at least 30% participation from women, while also developing a state-of-the-art Cyber Range to facilitate hands-on training, localized research, and real-world defense simulations. The project will further launch a Fellowship & Mentorship Program to nurture the next generation of cybersecurity leaders and deploy a Community SOC/CSIRT dedicated to supporting academia, nonprofits, and local organizations in defending against cyber threats.
A. S. M. Shamim Reza, Founder and Chief of Research, The Team Phoenix Group, said, "This project is more than just technology-it's about empowering people. By combining world-class training with a community-driven defense model, SecureNet BD will make cybersecurity inclusive, sustainable, and truly Bangladeshi. Our vision is to build a future-ready workforce and establish Bangladesh as a hub for regional cybersecurity innovation."
