The Ministry of Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment has rejected the rumours circulating on social media that Qatar has stopped issuing visas for Bangladeshi workers terming as “completely baseless and misleading”.

In a statement issued Tuesday night, the ministry said it had noticed several online posts and videos falsely claiming that the Gulf nation had suspended new work visas for Bangladeshis.

“The ministry believes such misinformation is a deliberate attempt to mislead and confuse the public,” the statement read, urging everyone to refrain from sharing or believing such claims.

It clarified that the Qatari labour market remains open and fully functional for Bangladeshi workers. Between September 2024 and September 2025, a total of 111,662 Bangladeshi workers have been deployed to Qatar, with recruitment continuing as normal.

At present, 425,681 Bangladeshi nationals are employed in Qatar, according to official data.

The ministry also addressed misleading content about so-called “free visas,” explaining that no such category exists in the Qatari visa system.

It urged job seekers and stakeholders to remain vigilant against misinformation and rely solely on verified updates from official government channels.
