
The burial of Air Vice Marshal Abdul Karim Khandaker, Bir Uttam-valiant freedom fighter of the Liberation War, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Mukti Bahini, and former Chief of the Bangladesh Air Force-was completed following a funeral parade and namaj-e-janaza. He was later buried at Shaheen graveyard located at Air Force Base Bashar.
The funeral parade was held on Sunday at the parade ground of Bangladesh Air Force Base Bashar. Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus attended the namaj-e-janaza and paid tribute to the deceased by placing a wreath on his coffin.
On behalf of the President, his Military Secretary, the Adviser to the Ministry of Liberation War Affairs, Chief of Army Staff Gen Waker-Uz-Zaman, Chief of Naval Staff Admiral M Nazmul Hassan, Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan, were present and paid their respects by laying wreaths on the coffin.
Family members of AK Khandaker, senior government officials, high-ranking military officers, and members of various ranks were also present at the ceremony.
A flypast by three Bangladesh Air Force helicopters was conducted to pay homage to AK Khandaker.
