The 12th edition of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) got underway on Friday with Rajshahi Warriors opting to bowl first against Sylhet Titans in the opening match of the tournament.
After winning the toss, Rajshahi captain Najmul Hossain Shanto chose to field, citing favourable conditions early on. Sylhet, led by Mehedi Hasan Miraz, were sent in to bat as both sides looked to start their BPL 2026 campaign on a winning note.
The opening encounter has drawn considerable attention, not only as the curtain-raiser of the season but also due to the face-off between close friends and national teammates Shanto and Miraz, now leading rival franchises.
