Students of Tejgaon College are staging protest blocking Farmgate intersection, seeking justice for their classmate Sakibul Hasan Rana who has been killed during clash between two groups of Chhatra Dal.
Around 9:45AM, the protesters took position in the Farmgate intersection and surrounding areas, creating huge traffic in Karwan Bazar, Tejgaon and Panthapath areas.
Many commuters were seen reaching their respective destination on foot.
The protesting students said that though 24 days have passed since the murder of their classmate Sakibul Hasan Rana, but the police have not yet arrested anyone. They have demanded the intervention of the Home Advisor and the Law Advisor and warned that they will continue the blockade until there is a clear development in the trial process.
The classmates alleged that Sakibul was attacked for protesting drugs.
On December 6, a clash broke out between two groups of Chhatra Dal inside the college dormitory over drug consumption, leaving three students injured, among Sakibul injured. He died December 10 at the ICU of a hospital at Moghbazar after four days.
Rana was a student of the Higher Secondary Science Department of the college.
