Jamaat candidate Fazlul's nomination suspended over dual citizenship

The returning officer has suspended cancelled the nomination paper of Jamaat-e-Islami candidate AKM Fazlul Haque for the Chittagong-9 constituency for holding dual citizenship.

Returning officer and Divisional Commissioner Zia Uddin cancelled the nomination on Sunday after scrutiny.

''Fazlul Haque said that he had applied to renounce his dual citizenship. However, he failed to produce any complete documentary proof of the renunciation. As a result, his nomination paper has been cancelled, said Executive Magistrate Hedayet Ullah.
