The TCL National Youth Men's Handball Championship 2026 got underway on Sunday at the M Mansur Ali National Handball Stadium in Paltan, Dhaka.
On the opening day, Chapainawabganj made a strong start, thrashing Madaripur 40-11, after taking a commanding 23-4 lead at half-time. Dhaka also enjoyed a comfortable outing, defeating Narail 43-12, having gone into the break ahead 22-5.
In a more competitive encounter, Jashore beat Jamalpur 37-28. The two sides were locked at 13-13 at half-time before Jashore pulled away in the second half. Kushtia secured a 33-23 win over Mymensingh, leading 15-8 at the interval.
Panchagarh dominated their match against Madaripur, recording a one-sided 35-6 victory after leading 19-5 in the first half.
In the day's final match, Faridpur defeated Narail 35-27, with a 15-10 advantage at half-time.
Ten district teams are competing in the championship, divided into two groups.
In the tournament, Group A consists of Chapainawabganj, Mymensingh, Panchagarh, Kushtia and Madaripur, while Group B features Dhaka, Jashore, Faridpur, Jamalpur and Narail. The top two teams from each group will advance to the semi-finals, with the final scheduled for 15 January.
The men's youth competition is sponsored by Tanvir Construction Limited (TCL). The tournament was inaugurated by Md Selim Fakir, NDC, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports, in the presence of officials from various sports federations and the Bangladesh Handball Federation.
