BNP Standing Committee member Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury has emphasized that creating a level playing field in employment should be the first step toward empowering women and ensuring inclusive development.

He made the remarks on Sunday at a discussion titled “Women in Nation-Building: Policy, Potential and Bangladesh’s Future”, organized by the Dhaka Forum at Krishibid Institute in Dhaka's Khamarbari.

Khasru highlighted that the focus should extend beyond women’s participation in politics to their involvement in the national economy, enabling them to contribute meaningfully.

He stressed that enhancing women’s skills and providing greater financial support; particularly in rural areas—are crucial for increasing workforce participation.

He also underscored the importance of support in areas such as marketing, branding and design, noting that such initiatives could significantly transform women’s livelihoods.

On the sports front, Khasru mentioned that BNP plans to develop female athletes from rural areas, aiming to unlock women’s potential across all sectors of society.

Assuring that the party’s proposals are grounded in years of research, he added that they will be implemented when opportunities arise.

The event was attended by prominent figures including Barrister Zaima Rahman, CPD Director Fahmida Khatun, social worker and entrepreneur Tamara Abed and Berger Paints Managing Director Rupali Chowdhury, among others.
