SIRAJGANJ, Jan 24: The electoral inquiry and adjudication committee has issued a show-cause notice to BNP-nominated parliamentary candidate M. Akbar Ali of Sirajganj-4 (Ullapara) over allegations of violating the election code of conduct.
The notice, signed on Thursday by Shanu Akand, Chairman of the Sirajganj-4 electoral inquiry and adjudication committee, states that a public meeting was organised on January 20 on the Kazipara Government Primary School ground in Panchkroshi Union of Ullapara Upazila.
The candidate's wife was present at the event, where a large pandal was set up and microphones were used to deliver election slogans.
The notice cites this as a clear breach of Rule 18 of the Political Parties and Candidates' Code of Conduct, 2025.
Commenting on the matter, BNP candidate M. Akbar Ali said, "I respect the law and will conduct my election campaign strictly within legal limits. My party has also instructed us to follow the rules."
