
Nuclear scientist Dr M Moinul Islam appointed as Chairman (in-charge) of Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission (BAEC).
The appointment was made effective on Sunday, through an office order from the Ministry of Science and Technology, says a press release.
The release also stated that before appointing Dr M Moinul Islam as the Chairman of the commission, he was first appointed as a member (Physical Science) of the commission through a separate office order.
Earlier, he served as the Director of the Planning and Development Division at the commission's headquarters.
Dr Moinul Islam joined the Health Physics and Radioactive Waste Management Division of the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology (INST) at the Savar-based Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission on April 16, 1995, as a Scientific Officer.
He earned his BSc (Honors) and MSc degrees in Physics from the University of Chittagong. He later obtained a PhD for research in Physics and Technology of Nuclear Reactors from the University of Birmingham, UK, and in Physics and Radioactive Waste Management from the University of Warwick, UK.
