BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman visited the residence of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Shafiqur Rahman on Sunday evening, just two days before his party is set to form the next government following its landslide victory in Thursday’s national election.

Tarique arrived at the Jamaat chief’s residence in Bashundhara Residential Area around 7:10 PM to hold a meeting, which political observers view as a positive post-election gesture.

He is also scheduled to meet Jatiya Nagorik Party (NCP) Convener Nahid Islam later in the evening at his residence on Bailey Road in the capital.

The meetings follow Tarique’s call for cooperation among all political parties and forces to help build a “safe and humane Bangladesh.”

In the recent election, BNP secured 209 seats, paving the way to form the next government, while Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami won 68 seats and NCP captured six.
