Corrupts to face lawsuits with administrative action: Law minister

Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Md Asaduzzaman on Wednesday warned that anyone involved in corruption will face criminal charges in addition to administrative measures, stressing that no one will be allowed to evade accountability.

Speaking on his first working day at Secretariat during an introductory meeting with officials of the two divisions under the ministry, the minister delivered a strong message against corruption.

“If anyone thinks they can get away with corruption, that will not happen here,” he said. “Those found guilty will not only face administrative action but will also be charged in corruption cases. Everyone must keep this in mind.”

Referring to public discourse that often labels individuals as “corrupt judges” or “corrupt officials,” Asaduzzaman said integrity is inherent to the role of a judge.

“A judge, by definition, is expected to be honest. I do not want to see distinctions such as honest or dishonest judge,” he remarked.

He further stated that those who feel their government salary is insufficient to support their families should reconsider their positions.

“If someone believes their salary is not enough, they do not need to remain in service. They can practise law, as there is an opportunity to do so after retirement. This is my common message,” he added.
