The government has established a Cabinet Committee to oversee a pilot initiative aimed at providing support to low-income and marginalised families through a “Family Card” scheme.

Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury will head the committee as its president.

Under the pilot phase, family cards will be distributed in one upazila from each of the country’s eight divisions, although the names of the selected upazilas have not yet been announced.

The committee has been tasked with submitting an initial report by February 24, detailing plans to expedite nationwide card distribution ahead of the upcoming Eid-ul-Fitr.
