Dhaka Water Supply and Sewerage Authority (Dhaka WASA) launched a tree plantation programme at Dasherkandi Sewage Treatment Plant compound near Aftabnagar, Dhaka, as part of the government’s nationwide initiative to plant 250 million trees over five years.
Dhaka WASA Managing Director Md. Aminul Islam inaugurated the programme on Saturday, June 13, 2026 on behalf of the organization.
Speaking on the occasion, Dhaka WASA officials highlighted the importance of increasing green coverage and protecting the environment alongside urban development. The initiative aims to contribute to environmental sustainability and create a greener, healthier urban landscape.
Dhaka WASA Deputy Managing Director (Human Resources & Administration) A.K.A.M Fazlul Haque, Deputy Managing Director (Finance) Md. Mizanul Haque, Deputy Managing Director (Operations & Maintenance) Mirza Golam Kibria, Deputy Managing Director (RP&D) Md. Azizul Haque, along with other engineers and officials of the organization, attended the event.
The tree plantation initiative reflects Dhaka WASA’s commitment to supporting environmental conservation and sustainable development in the capital.
