Neer, Minhaj advance to semifinals in National Chess

International Master (IM) Monon Reza Neer and IM Md. Minhaj Uddin advanced to the semifinals of the Spectrum Bangladesh National Cup Chess eliminating their respective rivals in the tie-breaking play off matches held at hall room of Bangladesh Chess Federation today.

The winners were decided in the tie-break play-off after the quarter-finals between IM Manon Reja Neer and IM Abu Sufian Shakil and IM Md Minhaz Uddin and FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman, both ended in a 1-1 draw.

In tie-breaking matches, IM Md Minhaz Uddin defeated FM Syed Mahfuzur Rahman by 2-0 game points while IM Manon Reja Neer defeated IM Abu Sufian Shakil by 1.5-0.5 game point.

Meanwhile, the semi finals will be held tomorrow (Tuesday) at the same venue.    �"BSS
