Govt scraps 9 secretaries' contracts

The government has cancelled the remaining tenure of nine senior officials who were appointed on a contractual basis as senior secretaries and secretaries during the interim government.

Ministry of Public Administration issued a notification on Monday revoking the remaining terms of their contractual appointments.

Those affected include Secretary of Health Services Division Md Saidur Rahman; Secretary of Information and Communication Technology Division Shish Haider Chowdhury; Director General of National Academy for Planning and Development Siddiq Zobayer; Chairman of Land Appeal Board Mohammad Yusuf; Senior Secretary of Ministry of Women and Children Affairs Momtaz Ahmed; and Sharifa Khan, Alternate Executive Director at World Bank.

In addition, the government cancelled the remaining contractual terms of Planning Commission members Md Mokhlesur Rahman, M A Akmal Hossain Azad and Kaiyum Ara Begum.

The notification stated that their contractual appointments have been revoked with immediate effect.
