The Prime Minister’s Office and Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh asked the Bangladesh High Commission in Delhi to send every detail about the incident in which Zahed Ur Rahman, the PM’s Policy and Strategy Affairs Adviser, was denied entry into Delhi by Indian immigration authorities.
Decisions on any further actions will be made after the circumstances of the incident are fully established, both PMO and Foreign Ministry officials confirmed.
The Foreign Ministry also described it as “mysterious reasons.”

Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman described the incident as “unfortunate” and said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was taking appropriate steps regarding the matter.

Despite prior notifications through diplomatic channels, Indian immigration authorities prevented Zahed Ur Rahman from entering Delhi on Sunday evening to join a two-day meeting of senior officials of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA) scheduled to begin in Delhi Monday, June 15, 2026.

Zahed Ur Rahman was expected to participate in the meeting as the head of the Bangladesh delegation.
After arrival at the airport, immigration officials reportedly engaged him in prolonged questioning and kept him waiting for an extended period without a clear decision on entry clearance, officials added.
Although permission was later granted following instructions from higher authorities, the Adviser chose not to enter India and instead returning to Dhaka via Colombo.
Dhaka said on Monday morning that authorities were gathering detailed information about what occurred at Delhi airport. Any decision regarding the government’s response would be taken after a full understanding of the events.
